It's 4:15pm Wednesday here (8:15am there) and it is official! We are now a family of 5!!! I still can't really believe it.....maybe won't officially believe it until we are back in Pelham! But, we didn't get to see the boys today.....court took a little longer than expected due to a problem with a juror not showing up. Then our driver had already gone to the orphanage this morning for some paperwork for us. So, we just decided to wait until tomorrow so that we can surprise the boys with the official news then! Court was about what we expected.....a bunch of talking we couldn't understand with Andrew whispering some of it to us. We did get questioned as to why we wanted to adopt and how we thought Jackson would do with the addition of 2 brothers. The judge was very happy to find out that Jackson is here with us and has already gotten to enjoy time with his brothers. Overall, it was not quite as nervewracking as we had prepared ourselves for. The judge was actually cracking jokes with our translator and posed in a picture with us at the end. After it was over, he wanted to ask us a couple of questions.....they ended up being about our economy and our camera.....both of which we know very little about. HaHa! Anyway, all is well and we are so excited! Thanks again for all your support and love.....we really couldn't make it without you!

Philip Dean Maxwell ---- 09-13-02

Ryan Gregory Maxwell --- -8-15-04

And Jackson's birthday falls right in between on 03-11-03. Things are certainly going to be very busy at our house! God has richly blessed us!!!!

  1. Hi, Melanie, Greg, Carol, and Kids,

This is wonderful news and I am so thankful that all went well. Do you have a more definite time that you will be there? I hope the remaining activities go as well as the court hearing. Will Philip and Ryan get to stay with you at your abode, or will they remain at the orphanage 'til you come back to Alabama?

    All is well here.

  2. You ARE so blessed! Three GORGEOUS boys - what could be more wonderful?! Just ask Latane - she has always said all those years of a house full of boys was heaven on Earth. (And don't forget about me - the unplanned baby girl 7 years younger than the youngest boy - those things happen, you know!) Isn't it amazing how Jackson has the perfect temperament for this? God's perfectly laid plans never cease to amaze me. I'm so happy for you guys - the tears are streaming down my cheeks! I know your hearts are so full. Can't wait to hear how Philip and Ryan react!

    Love you so much!
Debby (and Jarl, Alden, Mackenzie, Barrett and Parker!)

  5. Praise God!!! How exciting to hear the "official" news! Riley is leaning over my shoulder right now asking "CAN WE GO THERE AND GET A BROTHER TO BRING HOME WITH US?!?!" She's as excited as all the rest of us and thinks Ryan and Philip will be wonderful additions to our crew of kiddos. We love you all so much and are praising God today for His perfect plan.
    Love,
Holly (and Jes, Riley, and Caiden)

  8. I was attending a meeting and didn't get home to read the news until 4:00 P.M. (Wed). Just thanking God for the wonderful time we'll all have when you get home!!!.

Still praying that your remaining days there will go well with no problems in getting visas, passports, flights home, etc. You have so much to look forward to, you'll start counting the hours instead of days.

Love you. Give all three boys hugs for me!!.

  9. We are doing back flips (which is hard for a pregnant person, but we're that excitied!) Congratulations! What an amazing journey this has been - thank you for including all of us in it and allowing us to witness God's hand at work in a very real way. We have been praying for this day and we could have never imagined how God would answer it. Isn't He AWESOME! We know this is only the beginning and we look forward to walking this road with you. I have to admit the Charles' family has been addicted to the blog. We are constantly checking for updates. I think we'll have to go through detox once you guys are back in the States! We love you guys and can't wait to meet the newest additions to the Maxwell clan in person. Just let us know if the boys need more things from Brad's closet. He'll be happy to take them under his fashion wing :-)

  10. We are so proud for you guys! Tell Jackson, that with Matt and Micah - they almost have enough for a baseball team, basketball for sure! Matt can't wait for you to come home from "that Ukraine" and we echo that! God has truly shown his hand in all of this and we have been so blessed to be a part of it.
Congratulations and we will continue to pray you through... love, Mary Margaret (Keith, Matt and Eli too!)
